Some designers make clothes. A few build entire worlds, and you step into them. Sabyasachi is firmly the second kind. Say the name and a whole universe appears: deep, smoky colour, antique gold, hand embroidery that looks unearthed from a royal trunk, a romance that is equal parts old-world Bengal and rock-and-roll. It is one of the most recognisable aesthetics in Indian fashion, and brides adore it. But adoring a world and knowing how to live in it are different things. So let me spotlight it as a stylist would.
The Aesthetic: Heritage With a Pulse
The signature is maximalism with soul. Edit ruthlessly. In a world this generous, the styling job is mostly subtraction.
